About.

The Bridgehampton Youth Tennis Project is designed to introduce tennis to the 5-12 year olds who attend the summer program at the Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center (BHCCRC), which serves low income families in the community.  The tennis program runs at two separate locations: the program for younger kids (ages 5-8) at the 36×18 ft Youth Tennis Court at the Center, and the program for older kids (ages 9 and up) at the full-size courts of nearby Bridgehampton High School. Approximately 60 kids participate in the program each summer.  The program, which is offered free of charge, began with 6 volunteer coaches, and has grown to a network of 22 coaches.

The young are the future.

Since I started working here in 2017, I have seen kids go from never holding a racquet before to being able to consistently play tennis at a high level for their age. Mentoring these kids, witnessing their improvement, and being able to shape their development on the tennis court has made me realize that we can all make a difference by sharing that which we are most passionate about. The kids in this program are the future. Learning how to play tennis is much more than just learning a game. It teaches you discipline, patience, and inspires true passion. These three key attributes have made me the person I am today, and I am proud to be able to pass it on to kids who can learn to love tennis as much as I do.
