About
The Bridgehampton Youth Tennis Project is designed to introduce tennis to the 5-12 year olds who attend the summer program at the Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center (BHCCRC), which itself was founded in 1950 to serve low income families in the Eastern Long Island community. The tennis program runs at two separate locations: the program for the youngest campers (ages 5-8) at the 36×18 ft Youth Tennis Court at the Center, and the program for the other campers (ages 9 and up) at the full-size courts of nearby Bridgehampton High School.
"Since I began working here in 2017, I have seen so many kids go from never having held a racquet before to being able to consistently play tennis at a high level for their age. Being able to serve as a mentor and help shape their development on the tennis court has made me realize that we can all make a difference by sharing that which we are most passionate about. Any committed player knows that tennis is more than just a game - it's about discipline, patience, passion and the overcoming of internal challenges, both on and off the court. I'm grateful for all that the sport has given me, and I am proud to be able to pass it on to kids who can learn to love tennis as much as I do."
